On Saturday, our family received heartbreaking news. My uncle, Tio Hector, who has always been a father to me, suffered a massive heart attack while abroad in the Dominican Republic. This caused a severe brain injury (aneurysm), and he had to undergo emergency brain surgery to stop the bleeding and save his life.
Unfortunately, his U.S. medical insurance is not accepted in the Dominican Republic. This means we are forced to pay everything out-of-pocket. The healthcare system there is very different—without payment, the hospital will stop treatment.
Due to his delicate condition, it is not possible to transport him back home to the U.S. right now. He must remain in the ICU in the Dominican Republic, where he is still sedated and fighting for his life. He has not woken up, but our family continues to hold on to faith and prayer that he will open his eyes soon and begin recovering.
We are reaching out to ask for your help. The hospital bills are overwhelming, and every donation—no matter how small—will go directly toward keeping him in care.
