Hi everyone, my name is Amanda.

This is really hard for me to write. I have always struggled to ask for help, and putting myself out there like this has been incredibly uncomfortable. All of my life, I have been independent, and I never dreamed I would be in the situation that I am currently in. Right now, I do not know what else to do.

I’m in a really difficult place right now, both financially and mentally. I have been struggling to manage severe, treatment-resistant depression. Most days, it is difficult to just get out of bed in the morning. Every day is a challenge. I am currently in treatment at a crisis residential facility, and I am unhoused due to the decline of my mental health. Life has felt especially heavy lately, and I’ve been struggling to stay afloat.

The items in my storage unit are the last pieces I have from my loved ones who’ve passed away — photos, keepsakes, and personal belongings that mean the world to me. They hold the memories of people and moments that shaped who I am. Along with these family momentos, the storage unit contains everything that I have left. Losing them would feel like losing a part of my heart all over again. When you are already at the bottom, losing a few things that still bring comfort can feel unbearable.

Unfortunately, I’ve fallen behind on payments as I have no income due to my current circumstances, and I’m at high risk of losing the unit completely. The owner of the storage facility has made it very clear that if I do not pay by the end of this month, I will lose the unit. I’m doing everything I can to get back on my feet, but I really need help to get through this period of my life. Any amount, no matter how small, would make a huge difference in helping me keep these irreplaceable memories safe. Even sharing this page would mean a lot.
