What should be one of the happiest chapters of our lives has been overshadowed by unimaginable fear and heartbreak.
My wife and stepson were just approved by USCIS and are finally moving forward in their journey to join me here in the United States — a dream we’ve been working on for years. But just as we got the incredible news, tragedy struck our family overseas.
My mother-in-law — a kind, strong, and deeply loved woman — has been fighting silently for months with severe diabetes and heart complications. She lives in the small district of Phato, Thailand, where she ran a tiny shop out of her home, earning just $200 a month to support herself and others. Despite her limited means, she has always given generously, even when she had very little to give.
Now she is in the Phato Hospital, fighting for her life. Her foot is badly infected and requires immediate amputation to save her. Without it — and the follow-up treatments she needs for her heart and diabetes — she could be gone within a month.
The estimated total cost of her care and aftercare is $150,000 USD — an impossible amount for our family in Thailand, where the top earner makes just $600 a month.
I’ve paid everything I can to keep her with us — but the medical bills are growing fast, and we’re now in a race against time.
Please, if you’ve ever experienced the pain of almost losing someone you love — or if you know what it means to fight for your family — we’re asking for your help. No amount is too small. Every dollar gets us closer to keeping her alive.
We’re not just trying to save a limb. We’re trying to save a mother. A grandmother. A woman who deserves to meet her grandson again in good health, who deserves to live the rest of her life without pain.
Please help us write a better ending to this chapter. Share this. Donate if you can. And know that from the bottom of our hearts — we thank you.
With gratitude,
Brad, Praewta, and Family
