My mom inherited our family home after my grandmother passed away in 2015. My grandmother was a hard working, generous lady who worked for the county of Los Angeles and cared for children. My mom followed in her footsteps, working for LAUSD and always giving everything she could to help others. Unfortunately, after a work injury, my mom had to leave her job and eventually had her right leg amputated. She has been living on Social Security ever since and life has been a struggle.

This year we learned that back house taxes from my grandmother's passing in 2015 must be paid immediately, in addition to the current house taxes. If we can't pay both, my mom could lose her home—the home my grandmother worked so hard for. My mom, my uncle, and I are all doing our best to make ends meet, but it's just not enough to cover this overwhelming amount. We are doing everything we can, but the deadline is fast approaching and we are running out of time and options.

The funds raised will go directly toward paying off the back and current taxes to save our family home. While we are also paying off a loan for recent house repairs, these taxes are the most urgent need right now. We would never ask for help if it wasn't an emergency, but we are truly desperate. Times are hard for so many and it's difficult to ask for support, but I hope and pray that my mom will get the help she needs so she doesn't have to face more stress on top of her existing health challenges.
