Help save my mom's home from foreclosure

Donation protected
I help other people for a living and work in affordable housing but I have a hard time talking about my family's struggles and the ongoing fight to save my mom's house that she's called home for 23 years.

My mom, Evelyn, is a disabled Latinx woman in my mostly white hometown who is also an amazing writer, the kindest person I've ever known, and deserves the world. My sister and I need to come up with $2,250 dollars by February for her back taxes on the house that she owes to the city. On top of it, her food assistance has been cut THREE TIMES this year alone due to SNAP funding cuts.

Anything helps and if we raise more than our initial goal, the extra money will go towards her winter utility bills and food to help my sister and I offset those costs.

My mom owns our home and got poverty exempt from her 2018 taxes and filed for exemption again for her 2019 property taxes but if she doesn't pay these taxes from 2017, she loses the home she's had for 23 years and my childhood home.

My mom has navigated being in the foster care system, living on her own and working multiple jobs as a teenager, the loss of her mom at a young age, and needs stable housing to help her medical needs. Please help my family keep my mom housed and feeling supported. Everyone deserves a place to call home.

For my 25th birthday, I'm asking friends and strangers to donate $25+ dollars to help save my mom's home in Michigan. If you aren't able to donate, sharing this fundraiser will help spread the word to those who may be able to give. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
