Help save my little sister's life

Donation protected
Hi, My name is Leons Freddie and I'm starting this fundraising for my little sister Claire. Two months ago, Claire was a healthy young woman, working full time and living her life with just the everyday worries like everyone else. Now both of her kidneys are failing, and she remains sick at home waiting for a kidney transplant.

Claire lives in Uganda, she's 32 and she is an orphan who was raised by our Grandmother.

Up until her illness, she worked as the head of the Human Resources department at Sai Office Supplies Ltd. and in Rwanda before that.

Claire should be thinking about furthering her career, meeting new people, starting a family, and enjoying some of the best years of her life. But now, she is fighting for her life instead.

A few months ago, Claire’s health started to decline and we were unsure of what was happening. The hospital that she was in was unable to identify the cause of her problems. She lost her appetite, began to swell, developed ulcers, and her blood pressure began to rise. Her health continued to decline and she became hospital-bound.

At this point, we decided to move her to a different hospital. There, she was diagnosed with kidney failure. Slowly, the healthy young woman started to deteriorate and the Claire we knew, who was full of life, slowly disappeared.

Claire is currently attending a mission hospital in Nsambya in Kampala. She needs dialysis twice a week to survive, until she is able to get a kidney transplant. Uganda currently doesn't perform kidney transplants, so Claire would have to travel to the UK, US, India, Kenya, or South Africa to get the operation.

As you can imagine, the medical costs are prohibitively expensive. Not only do we have to raise the funds for the kidney transplant, but we also have to think about the travel costs for both the patient and the caretakers. Until Claire can get the transplant, we have to pay for the continuing costs of the dialysis as well as in-patient care at the hospital.

There is no free health care or welfare in Uganda, so the cost of the treatment and all the caretakers will have to be raised entirely by our family in order to get Claire the medical care she needs.

We are appealing for any help and support that you can provide.
