Meet Diva: 7 Pounds of Pure Love

Diva isn't just my dog—she's my world. This 7-pound Pomeranian packs more sass, heart, and unwavering loyalty than dogs ten times her size. When I adopted her at the height of the COVID pandemic, she became my lifeline through the isolation and fear we all felt.

But Diva gave me even more than pandemic comfort. When Lyme disease nearly destroyed my life, leaving me fighting for my health and sanity, Diva never left my side. She was my constant companion through the darkest days, offering comfort with her presence and giving me a reason to keep fighting.

Now it's her turn to fight, and she needs our help.

Diva's Battle Begins

On August 19th, our world turned upside down. After eating, Diva began trembling uncontrollably, clearly in pain and distress. The panic in her eyes broke my heart—this wasn't my confident, sassy girl.

Since that day, we've been on a medical journey that no pet parent wants to face:

3 emergency room visits

Multiple specialist consultations (primary care, neurology, cardiology)

Countless tests and procedures

The Heartbreaking Diagnosis

The specialists have uncovered the devastating truth: Diva has not just a huge heart metaphorically, but physically. Her heart is working overtime due to a serious defect that will eventually require surgery.

But that's not even our immediate concern.

Diva's urgent symptoms include:

Severe disorientation and lack of coordination

Dangerous blood pressure spikes (dysautonomia)

Neurological episodes causing trembling and distress

Pain that's breaking both our hearts

The Likely Causes:

Either a brain stem defect (chiari malformation) or malformation of her first two vertebrae, or an autoimmune condition attacking her nervous system.

What Diva Needs

Before we can even address her heart condition, Diva desperately needs:

MRI and spinal tap to diagnose the neurological issues

Specialized neurological treatment based on findings

❤️ Future heart surgery to repair the cardiac defect

Ongoing medication and monitoring

Why I'm Asking for Help

Just as Diva was there for me during my darkest health battle with Lyme disease, I want to be there for her now. But the financial reality of specialized veterinary care is overwhelming. My finances got tapped during my medical battle.

I would spend every penny I have and more to ease her suffering. Diva deserves the same chance to fight and heal that she helped give me.

Watching her struggle with pain and confusion is heartbreaking. This vibrant, sassy little soul who brought me through my own medical nightmare deserves every chance at relief and recovery.
