Help Save My Friend's Scholarship, Job, & Visa

Hi, my name is Sean Eagan (they/them) and I am a PhD candidate at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. I am raising funds on behalf of Ankin (she/her), a South-Asian international doctoral student in Missouri, who is unable to pay her health insurance premiums and student services fees. I have known Ankin for well over a year and she is a brilliant, hardworking, and deserving scholar. She is one of my best friends.

The university requires her to pay $2,623 in combined health insurance and student services fees, before she can register for the fall semester. If she cannot pay her insurance premiums and student services fee, she is at risk of losing her doctoral scholarship and job. Her doctoral scholarship and job are tied to her immigration status; this jeopardizes her student visa, and puts her at the risk of deportation. The wages she earns by herself primarily go towards rent and medical expenses. Being an international student, she is barred from off-campus employment and is faced with restrictions in the number of hours she can work in the university.

Her situation is dire and that's why I'm doing this. She is deeply committed to her studies here in the States. The funds we receive will go towards covering her insurance premiums and student services fees. They will help her stay safe from deportation.
