Help save my family from Gaza genocide & evacuate

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jacqueline Maier and I am currently fundraising on behalf of my husband’s family trapped in Gaza. We wake up each day hoping to hear news of their survival, as we have already lost too many family members and friends.

Our surviving family members Ahmed (95), Widad (88), Nafez (59), Eman (57), Mahmoud (33), Samah (30), Mohammad (28), Shoruq (29), Samah (24), Mostafa (20), Ibrahim (14), Osama (8), Mohammad (8), Sila (4), Khaled (3), and Hassan (3 mo.) lost their final family home in Nuseirat to the IDF’s bombardment on December 7th, 2023 and are currently seeking shelter in Rafah and Zawayda.

On day 19 of the ongoing genocide my sister-in-law Shoruq gave birth to the newest member of our family, baby Hassan Mohammad Ebrahim. She is in desperate need of basic hygiene products, baby supplies, and access to food to continue nursing.

The children are terrified and have already faced more than any human should. My stepson Osama was wounded in an airstrike and received stitches to his leg and hand, and later developed a fever due to infection. While he handled the situation like any child, proud of his bandages and stitches, we cannot take away the terror of every strike. And while normal children ask for candy and toys; he pleads with us for sweet potatoes and chicken.

Urgent Need
Our family is in desperate need of supplies. These include hygiene products (imperative to keep the newborn healthy), food, water, basic baby supplies and e-sim for communication. It currently costs around $9,000 per adult, and $3,000 per child to attempt to evacuate Gaza, even if the proper visas and documentation can be accessed. Our primary focus is day-to-day survival but we hope to raise enough to secure passage for family out of Gaza. We understand we may have to make hard decisions regarding who we can save.

Economic Hardship
My father-in-laws wages were frozen within the first month after the outbreak of violence. He like many, many others have no indication that this money will ever be released as it is being withheld from the Palestinian people. Unemployment prior to the ongoing crisis was unbearably high. My husband’s family who had work, have since lost those places of employment due to their physical destruction. My husband and I have completely exhausted our savings to get them this far. Securing transport from their destroyed home in central Gaza to Rafah alone cost upward of $1400 USD. A mere bag of flour going for anywhere between $300-$400 shekel. A single sweet potato $8-$10 before the supply was exhausted. I am working to sell my home in the US and working 50 plus hours per week as I’m permitted. My husband recently started a new job abroad, which has separated us as we navigate these trying times. Even with all our efforts we can still not even come near meeting our family’s needs at the inflated prices and with the scarcity of goods.

Whilst our reality is devastating, we still hold onto the hope that one day we will be reunited and able to embrace our loved ones. If you can find it in your heart, we would be infinitely grateful for any financial help possible. If you can’t donate we are seeking any information or help in the process of securing documents or visas or what we can possibly do to get them more aid.

If anyone in the healthcare field is reading this, my father-in-law is a physician and educator. I don’t know if there are any programs out there available that may be able to sponsor or help him and his family.

I will continue updating on the welfare of the family as we navigate this crisis.

Your Donations cover:
- basic necessities (water, food, hygiene products, baby supplies)
- passport fees
- visa paperwork
- document transfers
- border crossing fees
- temporary accommodations and flights out of Egypt should we be able to secure them safe passage
- GoFundMe fees

Distribution of Funds
Due to the sensitive nature of this conflict I cannot go into great detail how funds are reaching my husband’s family. But the money is going *directly* to my in-laws.

*Donations will be sent via my husband and I to my husband’s uncle then deposited directly into an account my father-in-law can access.*
