Help Save My Boys: Slash and Percy from Vitamin D Toxicity
Donation protected
My name is Grace and I need help for my sweet little boys.
Slash is a 6 year old brown white tabby. Percy is a 2 year old brindle tuxedo. They have been pivotal in my life and helped with coping with/healing my C-PTSD.
On Monday July 29th, Slash and Percy had gotten into a whole bottle of vitamin d 125 mg gel capsules off of my kitchen counter while I was at work from 7 am - 3 pm. Vitamin D is fat soluble, severely toxic to animals but it tastes very sweet for them. It’s a more common issue seen with dogs and can be processed out in a couple of weeks. Sadly, my little rascals have made them the exception. With how large the amount of toxin currently in their bodies, it will take a couple of more weeks before they’re in the clear.
They had been in and out care of both the East Memphis Vet Clinic and lovely Memphis Veterinary Specialists for over a week now. And yet have many more weeks of treatment needed to get them better such as daily at home saline infusions, biweekly vet checks and steroid medication.
This has costed me my savings as well as I’ve accrued severe debt as a result.
update 8/17 - the boys are doing better and finally off of their saline drip after a little over three weeks of treatment. They’re getting better by the day and it seems like we are almost out from this dark cloud.
personal thank you to everyone that has helped us so far.
