Help Save Mushroom: Emergency Vet Care Needed
Donation protected
Hello everyone…I am starting and sharing this gofundme with humility and vulnerability.
This past Thursday, our Mushy girl ingested an 800 mg Ibuprofen tablet. Ibuprofen is extremely toxic to cats. Ben and I just welcomed our son on 9/8/24 and my doctor prescribed me the Ibuprofen for pain relief postpartum.
In the middle of the night of 9/11 into 9/12 we noticed that Mushroom was acting very strange. She was being very clumsy, had labored breathing, dilated pupils and was cold to the touch. At first we didn’t know what could have caused her to behave like this, but then we quickly figured it out.
I had been going on nearly no sleep for 4 days prior to this incident due to my induction and delivery. So, Ben very sweetly told me to go to bed and he would take care of the baby for
the rest of the night so I could get some much needed sleep. In his effort to help me, he laid the Ibuprofen tablet on my nightstand. We realized Mushroom must have gotten ahold of the tablet and ingested some or all of the tablet based on how she was acting.
We rushed her to the emergency vet and were quickly met with the realization of how much treatment would cost. But we love our pets like family and are willing to do whatever it takes to save her. She was already in the hospital from 9/11-9/14 for initial treatment. She was home for a couple of days and we had to bring her in for multiple blood tests in that time. The levels in her kidneys keep rising. We just took her to the hospital again this evening for another test. We just admitted her again so they can continue to try and flush the Ibuprofen from her kidneys to give her the best possible chance.
We have put all of the money we can into this and now humbly ask for help. With having a new baby at home, this has been extremely difficult for us to deal with. Any help is so much appreciated.
Will give more updates as they come.
Thank you so much, love Alyx, Ben, Cam, and Pumpkin
