Hi, my name is Rory and I am raising funds towards life saving treatment for my sweet and beloved cat Monty.
Monty is 4 years old and up until this year spent the majority of his life living on the streets. He was rescued by Frankie's Friends in New Kensington after they had found him severely injured from an animal attack. He was shaven down almost entirely to treat numerous wounds throughout his body, was dewormed and given flea treatment, and was still healing from various injuries when I adopted him through Black Cat Market in Pittsburgh PA. Despite his rough and tumble look Monty immediately captured my heart, and I was and am so grateful to have been able to bring him home. He is the worlds biggest teddy bear and always so happy to greet strangers and friends alike with a meow and a kiss. He especially loves to snuggle with my cat Gizmo, bird watch out my kitchen window, and curl up with his favorite blanket or one of my sweaters.
Earlier this month I noticed discoloration in both of his eyes and brought him to the vet. The vets discovered he had lost 3 pounds since he was last seen in June, and they were able to run a blood panel where the results indicated inflammation of several proteins, an extremely low red blood cell count, and anemia. Monty is due to begin treatment for Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP,) which as of a few years ago was a death sentence for cats, and progresses rapidly and aggressively.
In recent years studies have shown the use of the medication GS-441524 to have an 80-95% efficiency in curing FIP. Monty will undergo a trial of 84 consecutive days of treatment, followed by an observation period, that we hope can not only save his life but keep him healthy and thriving for a very long time. He will also need regular follow-up appointments for bloodwork, to monitor his weight fluctuations, and other associated exams as he progresses through his treatment. I am not able to afford this treatment alone, and would be eternally grateful to receive any support, words, or anything in-between as I try to save the life of my pet who has grown to mean the absolute world to me.
Monty has lived an extraordinarily difficult life, and with your help I will hopefully have him on the track to one filled with plenty of churu, playtime with his brother Gizmo, and a lot more meows and kisses.
