This is Mollie, our fur baby! Mollie is more than a dog; she is a member of our family. She is the first dog for my kids and the reason my wife is no longer a "cat person." Mollie is only six years old, and last week she was not acting like a six-year-old pup should act. She had very low energy and was barely making it up the stairs. I took her to the vet, and they found a large mass on her spleen. Her red blood counts were low, and we had to take her to get emergency surgery to remove her spleen. The vet hospital charged us $9,000 to save Mollie's life. Since I consider her one of my children, I paid the money. How could I not? Anyone who knows me knows that I hate to ask for help, but in the current financial environment, I could really use the support of my community to help cover this procedure. As are most things, this incident did not happen at the best time. In March of 2023, I was laid off for the first time in my life, and I am still digging out of that financial hole. I understand that I am not the only one dealing with the current financial struggles, so whatever you can spare will help. I am not looking for handouts, and I am currently looking for ways to earn extra money to pay this debt. If you have any suggestions for ways I can make extra money (legal ways), please share them. Thank you for your time and support. With love, Mollie and the rest of the Sloat family.
