Help Save Minxie’s Life

Hi everyone, My name is Lisa I am fundraising for my best friends cat Minx. Kirsten Melenson (minxies mom) and her boyfriend, Alex Racioppa also known as minxies dad are the best kitty parents I have ever met. Kirsten adopted Minx back in October of 2020, and since then these two are inseparable the best of friends, Minx is more than just a cat she is apart of their family. Minx is 3.5 years old and has always been in great health until this past weekend she began showing signs of lethargy; she had no appetite and was not eating, was sleeping all day, and was not her playful and energetic self. Deeply concerned, they brought her to an emergency animal hospital on Sunday night, where we were met with devastating news. After reviewing her blood work, it became apparent that Minx was suffering from kidney failure. The cause of this could not be established without an ultrasound and further tests. They were then given 2 options: do nothing and allow her to pass, or take action and give her a fighting chance. With her being Kirsten and Alex’s baby, and only 3. 5 years old with so many years ahead of her, they chose to try and save her. Minx is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital to bring her kidneys back to a safer and more functioning level, as well as an ultrasound to attempt to diagnose the cause of her ailment. We expect that she will be there for 4 days, though the situation may evolve as they monitor how she responds to the treatment. Regardless, when she returns home there will be ongoing and daily fluid injections, as well as a specified diet to maintain her kidney function. This was a decision they needed to make to save their little fur baby. Unfortunately, this decision has come with a very steep price of a minim of $6000. This, of course, is something they were not prepared to pay, but knew we needed to. In order to manage this financial burden, I have made this go fund me so they can continue to pay for Minx and continue the mend of hopefully getting her healthy again.
