Minnie is our 6-year-old rescue goofball. She and her sister came to us from Pawsitive Tails as fosters, and we knew pretty quickly they belonged with us forever. Minnie is a wild and active girl who demands pets and cuddles. We took her to the vet when we saw a lump in her ear. She was born with an extreme excess of tissue in her ears that causes frequent ear infections we have to manage. The vet decided to drain the lump and put her on some antibiotics in preparation for a surgery that would be needed to help remove excess tissue and avoid future infections. This surgery alone is quoted at $5-$6k. While resting at home the day after the lump removal, we noticed her expected sedation tummy ache seemed more severe than mentioned and rushed her back to the vet where we got the devastating news that it was sepsis.

We are hopeful that we caught it quickly enough that Minnie may survive and her numbers are already improving, but to give her a chance we had to commit to the first 48 hours of care which is currently just under $7k. These next 2 days are crucial and will determine her viability now and long-term.

I know many would say they wouldn't spend that much on a dog, but Minnie is a member of our family and an otherwise healthy, happy, and incredibly loving girl. We have made the decision to give her a chance. We would not wish this decision on anyone, and we hope people will respect that we made the choice we felt was right for her for now.

Like many in this economy, we do not have a lot of financial wiggle room post-baby birth earlier this year. We have taken advantage of Care Credit, which has bought us time. We feel very uncomfortable asking for help, but we feel Minnie is worth more than our pride, so here we are. If you feel inclined to help us with our hope to save our Minnie, we would be forever grateful.
