On July 22nd, our beloved dog Milo, was viciously attacked during his usual walk. While sniffing near a fence on a public sidewalk, something he’s done countless times before, one of the two large dogs behind the fence managed to grab him through the posts. It only took seconds for our worst nightmare to come true.

Milo’s lower lip was torn open, with the injury extending all the way down to his neck. The vet described it as “his jaw got fillet open”. We rushed him to the emergency vet, where he underwent surgery that saved his life but it came with a $3,500 bill. We were hopeful that would be the end of it, but now we’ve received devastating news.

Milo needs a second, more complex emergency surgery if he’s going to survive. This time, the vets will need to perform dental surgery and remove part of his lower jaw to successfully reattach the damaged skin. This procedure is estimated to cost another $4,500.

We are doing everything we can, but the financial toll is overwhelming. The only alternative given to us was to put him down, something we simply cannot bear. Milo is more than a pet, he’s family. His gentle soul, the way his little tail wags, and his unconditional love have brought so much joy and comfort to our lives.
