My name is Nicolle Hallums-Nunley, and I’m hoping you’ll be part of something truly life-changing for my husband, Mike- who has LOST HIS SIGHT!

Mike made the brave choice to start over in his late 50s and train for a new career in radiography after losing his job and health insurance during COVID. Just weeks before graduating, he woke up blind—both retinas had detached and required emergency surgery.

Thanks to the generosity of others and using the rest of our savings, his sight was saved just enough for him to graduate top of his class using special magnifiers. Our family was so close to a new beginning.

Now that future is at risk again. Complications from the surgery caused severe cataracts in both eyes, and without URGENT, specialized surgery by Dr. George McMickle, MD, who will be performing an intraocular lens implantation and astigmatism management using specialized surgical equipment, Mike will lose his vision permanently! Dr. McMickle is only able to operate on Mike’s left eye at this time, as it is in the worst shape—so our fundraiser amount is for surgery on the left eye. Our family has faced many hardships in recent years, making this moment even more difficult. Without his vision, he cannot take his certification exam, return to work, or provide for his family.

We tried many other vision charities and didn’t qualify or they didn’t have surgeons in our area or that could do his procedure. TIME IS UP and we must move quickly with this URGENT situation. This is the moment where the outcome can still be changed to a happy ending.
