Please Pray & Help Mehmet Fight Neuroblastoma

Our 4-year-old son Mehmet was recently diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma — a rare, aggressive, and by its nature one of the hardest-to-treat childhood cancers. Our lives changed in an instant.

What began as a simple arm pain led to a shocking diagnosis. Tests revealed a large tumor in his adrenal gland and widespread metastasis throughout almost all of his bones. Since that moment, we’ve been fighting alongside him through fear, tears, and endless hope.

Mehmet is currently undergoing chemotherapy in the UK, but his condition is complex and the road ahead is long. The standard treatment protocol involves months of therapy: multiple rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, high-dose chemo, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy.

From the moment we learned about his illness, we knew this journey would be long and that nothing about it would be easy. During this time, we want to dedicate ourselves not only to his primary treatment but also to exploring possible alternative treatments in case of relapse or if he stops responding to standard therapies. We also hope to find ways to make him more comfortable throughout this grueling process. Right now, there is a promising vaccine trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York — one of the leading hospitals for neuroblastoma. This trial gives us hope that we desperately need.

Unfortunately, the cost of treatment at MSKCC is hundreds of thousands of dollars, and as a family, we simply cannot take on this financial burden alone. That’s why we’re reaching out for help. Right now, providing full-time care for Mehmet makes it nearly impossible for us to work. Your donation will contribute directly to his care and help ease our financial strain.

4 yaşındaki oğlumuz Mehmet’e, nadir görülen, agresif seyreden ve doğası gereği tedavisi en zor çocukluk kanserlerinden biri olan Yüksek Riskli 4. Evre Nöroblastom teşhisi kondu. Hayatımız bir anda altüst oldu.

Her şey basit bir kol ağrısıyla başladı ama yapılan tetkikler sonucunda böbrek üstü bezinde büyük bir tümör ve neredeyse tüm kemiklerine yayılmış metastaz tespit edildi. O günden bu yana korkuyla, gözyaşlarıyla ve hiç bitmeyen bir umutla onun yanında savaş veriyoruz.

Mehmet şu anda İngiltere’de kemoterapi görüyor ancak durumu karmaşık ve önümüzde uzun bir yol var. Standart tedavi protokolü aylar süren; çoklu kemoterapi kürleri, ameliyat, yüksek doz kemoterapi, radyoterapi ve immünoterapiyi içeren yoğun bir süreci kapsıyor.

Hastalığını öğrendiğimiz andan itibaren bu yolculuğun kolay olmayacağını biliyorduk. Bu süreçte sadece temel tedaviye odaklanmakla kalmayıp, hastalığın nüksetmesi veya tedaviye yanıt vermemesi durumunda neler yapabileceğimizi araştırmak istiyoruz. Aynı zamanda tedavi sürecinde Mehmet’in daha az acı çekmesi, daha konforlu bir süreç geçirmesi için farklı destekleyici tedavi seçeneklerine ve ilaçlara da zaman ayırmak istiyoruz. Şu anda New York’ta bulunan Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) bünyesinde umut verici sonuçlara sahip bir aşı programı bulunuyor. Bu program bize çok ihtiyaç duyduğumuz umudu veriyor.

Ne yazık ki, MSKCC’deki tedavilerin maliyeti yüz binlerce doları buluyor ve bu yükün altından aile olarak kendi başımıza kalkmamız mümkün değil. Bu nedenle desteğinize ihtiyaç duyuyoruz. Mehmet’e tam zamanlı bakım sağladığımız için şu an çalışmamız mümkün değil. Yapacağınız her bağış, hem Mehmet’in tedavisine hem de bakımına doğrudan katkı sağlayacak, üzerimizdeki maddi yükü hafifletecektir.
