Hi my name is Kim Hardmon. I have 6 days to try and save my life from being taken from me. My children previously created a gofundme that helped with rent, bills and expenses related to my hospital stay however, we are requesting and begging for more assistance so I am not sent to a nursing home. Insurance is pushing me out on my birthday , December 13. I have just 6 short days to get some medical equipment and a handicap van for transportation or I will be thrown away in a nursing facility. If that happens, my only source of income will be taken from me , we’ll lose our home, our car, everything. We have found a van for 4,000$ , a bed, a lift to move me from a bed to wheelchair all online used but don’t have enough funds to purchase everything . I have friends who have built a wheelchair ramp to get me into my home . I have fought so hard to get where I am and just want to go home to my family where I can be safe and not thrown away. Doctors said I’d never breathe on my own again, I am. They said a lot that I defied and want a chance to keep going ! I don’t want to give up! I was hospitalized and taken in for surgery back in September due to an infection in my spine that arose after a neck stabilization surgery in July. I was septic, on full ventilator support, fully sedated and now, I will never walk again. How I survived is only by the grace of God and all the prayers received from my fellow family and friends. Thank you all so much. In October, I was finally awakened and tolerant to consciousness. I began my long journey in rehabilitation and healing. There was a lot of medical negligence that set me back… a bed sore on my bottom that increasingly got worse from not being turned and bed pans with old feces still in them being put under me . I had to have another surgery , which after I lost a lot of blood that went unnoticed after not being checked on for hours . I required blood transfusions, my peg tube had been dislodged due to harsh handling and I had to have another surgery that opened my entire stomach to get it back in there . After meds had already been forcefully and painfully pushed through, no one would listen for two days that something was wrong. My family never gave up and I finally got to rehab even though my time is being cut short. Now we’re in for our next fight and don’t want to give up. I know that my odds in a nursing home will be full of things much worse than this and that is only some of it. I can receive more physical therapy from home than I ever will at a nursing home . Please help us raise enough money so that I can go home Wednesday. Thank you to the many who have already helped , prayed and been there for me through this difficult journey .
