Help save McQueen from being euthanized

Hi there,

My name is Lacey. You may have seen my posts about this dog on the Ring App, Next Door, Instagram, and/or Facebook.

McQueen has been on the euthanasia list at The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas (Pet ID A1261364) since last week, and I have been desperately trying to save his life. (Please read the full story, below.) I finally found a local dog rescue group who has agreed to take him, but they have already rescued many dogs and therefore are out of fosters and out of space to put him. In order to save him, we need to get him out of The Animal Foundation and into a boarding facility. From there, the rescue group can take over. We need to get these funds right away though, so we can pick him up from The Animal Foundation. I, and the rescue group, have both been in touch with The Animal Foundation. They are aware that we are getting him out of there, and have agreed to pause his scheduled euthanasia.

All donations received will go to pay for McQueen's boarding costs, and all other expenses related to his rescue. This is going to be a group effort with many people involved, working towards saving and rehabilitating this boy.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity,

Lacey Sculls

What happened: The week before last, on Wednesday, March 8, my husband and I were driving in our neighborhood in Las Vegas, NV at 2:00 a.m. in the morning, when we saw a loose dog running back and forth on one small section of the street, near our house. He was terrified, but I was eventually able to catch him. He wasn't wearing a tag (and we later discovered he was not microchipped). My husband and I stayed with the dog for over an hour. We checked the Ring app, only to see that someone posted a few hours earlier that they had witnessed the dog get hit by a car.

The problem was, it was the middle of the night so everyone who could possibly help us, was asleep. Also, we already have three dogs at our house, one of which is over 100 lbs and unpredictable with other dogs, so bringing him back to our house was not an option. With nowhere to put the dog, we reluctantly called animal control. They took him to "The Animal Foundation" ("TAF") in Las Vegas. They told me they would put a 3-day hold on him, to give the owner a chance to claim him. In our efforts to help find an owner as well, (if the owner even wanted to be found at all), my husband and I flyered our neighborhood, and we posted him on Ring, Next Door, PawBoost, FB, IG, and more. A week later, no owner had come forward, which means that he was deliberately driven to our neighborhood and dumped there to fend for himself. That's why he was running up and down the same stretch of the street for several hours without leaving that area. He was waiting for his owner to come back.

According to the poster on Ring, they saw him running back and forth on that street, only to get hit by a car. This happened three hours before I found him and caught him. Fortunately, he only had abrasions, but no serious injuries.

After a week had passed with no one stepping forward as his owner, The Animal Foundation scheduled him to be euthanized. They said that, since being there, he had developed aggression and was acting out. Because of this, they scheduled his euthanasia date for May 17. Since I literally caught the dog myself, and my husband and I walked him and stayed with him for over an hour, we KNEW he wasn't actually aggressive. He was just terrified and traumatized from everything he had been through, and was now in a scary, unfamiliar location. Of course he was acting up!

I BEGGED the staff at The Animal Foundation for more time, regarding his scheduled euthanasia. Eventually they granted it, and gave us until Monday, March 20. At the 11th hour, Animal Network graciously stepped forward and agreed to take him on. They have limited space though, so we are needing to raise funds to get him into a boarding facility. My husband and I, along with their volunteers, will work together to get him socialized so that this poor, deserving boy can find his forever home as soon as possible.
