HELP SAVE MAYA'S PAW!
Donation protected
Meet Maya! This sweet girl was found with her paw caught in a cable snare intended for pigs in the woods near Kaawa K9 Rescue. These snares become tighter and tighter as the animal fights against them, causing a loss of circulation in the foot. We believe that she had been there for 2 to 3 days. When Maya was found, she was covered in fleas, with maggots burrowing in her deteriorating paw. Though tired, petrified, and in extreme pain, this pup welcomed her rescuers with kisses and smiles.

Since then, Maya has had a difficult battle. Dr. Leslie Kaleikau of Aloha Affordable Veterinary Services has been working tirelessly trying to return this pup to a healthy state. Her dedication to helping Maya has been above and beyond, with her even completing treatments on the weekends while the office is closed. She believes that with daily work for 6 to 8 weeks, Maya's paw can be saved. After everything she has been through, Kaawa K9 Rescue wants to try all options to restore the paw and give Maya the most normal life as possible.

Everyone who has met Maya has fallen in love with her instantly. Her big smile, Yoda-like ears, and gentle manner have melted countless hearts in just a week. To say she deserves all the love, pets, treats, and turkey (her favorite) is an understatement.

As everyone knows, 6 to 8 weeks of daily trips to the vet is costly. Kaawa K9 Rescue is a nonprofit organization that runs solely on donations. Without the aid of others, Maya might not be able to receive the treatment that she needs. All money raised will go directly towards Maya's treatment. If money remains, it will be used toward other animals in need at the shelter. Any amount helps and would be greatly appreciated! Much love!
