My beautiful boy Max is very unwell, and I am absolutely heartbroken.
Max came to me at just 2 years old all the way from Romania. Before that, he had a really hard start in life—he was kept locked in a garden, clearly abused, and then ended up in a Romanian kill shelter. Thankfully, he was rescued by New Leash for Life and brought over to the UK… and that’s when I found him.
I wasn’t even looking for a dog. I just saw his face while scrolling on Facebook and instantly fell in love.
From the moment he came into our lives, he fit into our family perfectly. He is the most loving, gentle, loyal dog you could ever meet. He loves swimming, going on walks, and most of all, just being close to me—his person.
He is also absolutely incredible with my children. He is so gentle, patient, and kind with them—truly an absolute saint. Watching the bond he has with them is something really special, and he is such a huge part of our family.
When we first got him, he was so nervous. Even cars driving past would scare him. But we worked through it together, building trust step by step. Our bond grew so strong that I could let him off the lead early on, knowing he would always come back to me. We have an unspoken connection that’s hard to put into words.
Now, Max is suddenly very sick. He hasn’t been eating, is extremely lethargic, and is in a lot of pain. The emergency vet has said he has jaundice (yellowing of his eyes and gums) and abdominal pain, and he urgently needs blood tests and further treatment to find out what’s wrong and give him a chance.
I don’t have pet insurance, and I simply cannot afford the cost of the diagnostics and treatment on my own. I am trying everything I can to raise the money quickly, but I’m running out of time.
Max has already been through so much in his life. He finally found safety, love, and happiness—and I can’t bear the thought of losing him now.
If you can donate anything at all, no matter how small, it would mean the world to us. And if you can’t donate, please share.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read Max’s story ❤️
