Max is our beloved chocolate lab, a gentle and shy soul who’s always down for a good nap, loves to swim, and enjoys watching action movies with his dad. He has been our family dog for 8 years, bringing us comfort and joy with his sweet nature and quiet companionship. Seeing him snuggled up on the couch is one of our favorite sights, and he means the world to us.
Last night, Max suddenly became very lethargic and started having bloody stool. We rushed him to the vet, where he was diagnosed with Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis (HGE). The vet explained that Max needs to be hospitalized right away, with 24/7 care, fluids, and X-rays to give him the best chance at recovery. Right now, Max is receiving medication to keep him comfortable and antibiotics to fight the infection, but his condition is urgent and he doesn’t have a lot of time. If the treatment doesn’t work, we will have to make a very difficult decision or keep him in the vet’s care for longer.
Max is our baby, and we want to do everything we can to give him the long, happy life he deserves. We’re learning a lot as we go, and this experience has shown us just how helpful pet insurance can be. We’ve signed up for coverage, but unfortunately, Max won’t be eligible to use it until January 1st—and by then, it will be too late for this emergency. Not having pet insurance in this situation has really changed a lot for Lorenzo and me, and it’s made this experience even more overwhelming. Lorenzo and I just want to see Max happy and healthy again, and we’re so grateful for any support you can give. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for caring about Max and helping us through this difficult time.
