We need help saving Mary Ann’s Kitchen! The pandemic has hit many small businesses hard, even more so Mary Ann’s small one-woman breakfast and lunch gathering spot on 7th Street. She recently had to close her doors, unable to afford ongoing expenses such as rent, utilities and payroll for even the one employee left working.
Many of us know Mary Ann from her decades making our breakfasts at Calico Cupboard, the old Starbar and now her own place on 7th Street. Mary Ann's Kitchen instantly became a gathering place for friends and family, a true mom’s warm kitchen atmosphere. A single mom and grandma, she’s a one woman show, working the kitchen single handed while at the same time socializing with customers who are now family. If you know her you know that she puts her heart and soul into the restaurant, one of the kindest and most hardworking people we know.
She told me, that for now, she would like to attempt reopening in some form. Being able to see her customers and be a conduit for keeping them connected to each other. Of course, ultimately to survive until full operation is again possible and get her employees back to work. But this is not possible without help, something she is not inclined to ask for, as those who know her are aware. She finally agreed to allow us to set this GoFundMe page up because it seems the only way left to survive.
We know it is a lot to ask with all that is going on around us, but please give what you can, every little bit helps. And please share this page on your personal social media, email friends about it! Let’s help Mary Ann save what she has worked her life to create and allow all of us to continue to reap the benefits of her warm and inviting establishment.
Keep a watch here and we will try and keep this page updated on how things progress. For now we are asking for what she feels would keep her going for a couple months. Thanks to all of you in advance for your generosity.
