Hello, my name is Wendy, and I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my sister-in-law, Mary Louise Avu, a loving family member and a brave police officer in Papua New Guinea.

Mary has served for many years in the Family Violence Unit at Waigani Police Station, where she has protected vulnerable women and children from abuse and domestic violence. She has always shown strength, compassion, and tireless dedication to helping others — even when it came at a personal cost.

Today, Mary urgently needs life-saving heart surgery after being diagnosed with a serious heart condition. The cost of this medical procedure is overwhelming and beyond what she can manage alone.

We are reaching out to friends, families and kind strangers to help us raise funds for Mary’s surgery, hospital care, and recovery. I am based in Australia, so I’ve set up this GoFundMe to allow people both in PNG and around the world to contribute and support.
