My name is Marie Jane Machin and I am raising money to help save my parents house from foreclosure at the end of July 2026. My parents are in their 60s and 70s, and my mom still works sometimes 7 days a week. I am a freelance photographer, and while I was able to help them out in the last year, I've reached a point where my assistance is not enough. I am their only child, and I love my parents very much. This is the home I grew up in, and it's the home my mom grew up in, too.

This situation has happened organically. Between rising prices of BGE, water, health insurance and food, my parents were the people who were just sitting above the line of not being able to make their bills. As the news began to mention rising costs due to inflation, my family felt that financial squeeze immediately. They have tried selling things off to get ahead, doing without to see if they could close the gap, and it's to the point where we need to ask for financial assistance in order to save the house from foreclosure.

Part of this is also due to my grandmother having been in hospice for the last three years, and part of this is due to rising costs of literally everything in the US currently. Regardless, there is a need and I need to do something about it.

The immediate need is for 6k to pay off 2 months of overdue mortgage and pay some overdue bills like BGE. Any remaining money will be saved to put towards future emergencies or to pay an advance on their mortgage to prevent this from happening again. This is why the goal is 12k. I can't help them on my own, and believe me when I say I have been trying.

If I had one wish it would be to save my parents house. Being in their 60s and 70s, the stress of possibly becoming unhoused has taken a toll of both of my parents. Both of them wake up in a panic, experiencing dry heaves due to the stress. They both are diabetic and have high blood pressure. We have a history of stroke and heart attacks on both sides of my family tree.

I can't watch this destroy my family, and I WON'T. If you know me personally, you may associate me with being a hard worker. I pride myself in being a determined person, and I am determined to help my parents save their house.
