Update 3/11: Everyone, we did it.

Mamas came home yesterday after three days at the vet and a successful surgery. The fracture was worse than they thought, which meant putting a pin through her femur and reconstructing the leg. But I was told she was a soldier and woke up hungry.

She's back home and resting in a kennel. She was fussy at first, but she's calmed down. She has to stay off her feet for at least a month. That's when we'll do the next round of x-rays.

It was a big bill, and y'all were so generous. It put a big dent in it.

The vet thinks, if she can keep off it, she'll recover. She'll always be a cyborg, but y'all helped give her the best chance at a full life with all her paws still attached. I am so grateful.

My name is Adam, and I have a soft spot for strays. Mamas is a stray cat who sauntered up to me one day and -- because she got fed -- has never left. She lives outside, but she's become my responsibility.

She went missing for a few days recently. I looked all over but I couldn't find her. She finally came home, but it was obvious she was hurt. We went to the vet and one of her hind legs is shattered, likely because she was hit by a car. Now I'm trying to save her leg.

Mamas is the sweetest, most annoying girl. It doesn't matter how you touch her, she's going to purr up a storm. She's a fiend for food, and I think she's had a rough life that made her desperate to eat whenever she can. As much pain as she's in, if you didn't notice her leg you wouldn't have any idea. She's just a baby.

Mamas needs surgery. It's going to cost about $5,500 to save her leg, and that's what I want for her. She deserves real love.
