While getting a cafecito one morning in early April, I noticed a small clump of silver fur on the side of the road. It was a busy street so I pulled over expecting the worst. Yet when I approached this small clump in the hot sun, I realized it was a kitten. Her little mouth was open, gasping for air, while her bloated tummy slowly moved up and down. After waiting awhile to see if the mama had plans on returning, I scooped up the clump. I couldn't believe how tiny she was and that she was still alive, just inches from death. Since then I knew Mama Quilla was a fighter, even at 3 days old. We were meant to find each other that day, and with the help of my sister and loved ones, I was able to bottle feed, nourish, and raise this angel to health.
Recently, lumps were found on Quilla's underbelly, varying in size and location. After seeing a number of vets and undergoing tests, x-rays, ultrasounds, etc - it has been confirmed that Quilla has cancer. At just 10 months old, this is extremely rare. Not only because of her age, but also due to how aggressive the cancer has become in such a short period of time. The sarcoma tumors have developed relentlessly on her mammary glands.
Despite this devastating diagnosis, the cancer has not yet spread to other parts of her body which means she is eligible for a life saving procedure. She will need to undergo a double mastectomy within the next couple of weeks to have a fair chance at surviving. I am asking for financial support through this unexpected time, in order to get her the medical attention she needs as soon as possible.
The reality is, I need the help of friends, family, acquaintances, to be able to save her life again. She has so much life left to live and I have no intention of giving up on her any time soon.
If you are willing & able please donate to help save Quilla's life. I know this is a difficult time for many of us but any help will go a long way. If you can't find the means to donate please share with an animal lover in your life. Thank you for taking the time to read and your consideration. Much love.
