Lumi is a beautiful 6 month old puppy whose life changed in an instant. Lumi and her mum Sharn are needing assistance.

While out on a walk, Lumi was randomly attacked by an off-leash American Staffy. The attack was sudden and unprovoked. Tragically, the owner of the other dog has stated they are unable to assist with any costs.

Lumi is incredibly lucky to be alive.

As a result of the attack, Lumi suffered severe injuries, including her jaw being dislocated in three different places. During emergency treatment at the Vet, Lumi had to be placed under anaesthesia and her heart stopped. She was resuscitated, but this has caused her to lose her vision and there is concern about possible brain damage.

Because of what happened under anaesthesia, vets are now extremely worried about putting Lumi under again, as there is a real risk her heart may stop. Despite this, she urgently needs reconstructive surgery to her jaw. The surgery is now being handled by a specialist vet.

The estimated cost for the surgery is between $6,000 and $10,000, but an exact figure cannot be given at this stage due to the complexity and risk involved. So far, the owner has already paid around $6,000 for emergency care, with the surgery now requiring separate payment.

Every dollar raised will go directly toward Lumi’s ongoing treatment and surgery, giving her the best possible chance at recovery and a pain free life.
