Hi everyone, my names Justin and I need your help. I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help in saving my sweet cat, Luma.
Luma is 6 years old and has been my constant companion since I rescued her from the SPCA when she was just 3 months old. She’s more than just a pet; she’s a member of my family and truly like a human trapped in a cat's body. Her gentle, friendly nature and love for cuddles, laser pointers, treats, and sunbathing in my window sills have endeared her to everyone who meets her.
Luma is a special cat who brings joy to everyone she encounters. She has an incredible ability to sense when someone is feeling down and will snuggle up to offer comfort. Her playful antics and affectionate personality have made her a beloved presence in my life and the lives of my friends and family. I’m often told that she has a uniquely human quality, with her expressive eyes and intuitive nature.
A week ago, Luma began showing signs of illness. I came home to find that she had vomited multiple times and was barely drinking water or eating. She has become lethargic, withdrawn, and is struggling to walk and jump up on furniture. Normally, Luma is very active and vocal, always meowing and talking to me, but now she is quiet and hiding away.
she hasn’t eaten pretty much anything in atleast 3-4 days now, and is barely drinking anything to keep herself hydrated. I’ve been feeding her water with a little medicine syringe to try to help keep her hydrated but not sure it’s as effective as I hoped.
I took her to the emergency veterinary clinic on the advice of several vets I contacted. The exam fee alone was over $300, and they strongly recommended that I keep her overnight for further tests and treatments. Unfortunately, I don’t have the financial means to cover these costs, and I’m terrified that I might lose her because of it. I was quoted the low end of $3,700 and a high end of $4,800 for the treatments and tests she may need. They require a 100% deposit of the high amount before starting any tests or treatments (parts blacked out for privacy)
~~~~~~~~UPDATE AUGUST 1ST~~~~~~~
——————————————————
I took luma into a vet again today in my hometown of Brantford for cost purposes
blood samples and tests were run, which came back showing signs of inflammation, something off with kidney and creatinine, still has a fever of 40°C, still dehydrated. They suspect the inflammation is in the stomach as she slightly reacted when squeezing in the area.
shes managed to eat maybe a spoonful of
food tonight and drink lots of water. I’ll likely have to put her into the hospital so they can give her nutrition as it’s now been over 7 days and she’s weak, and I can easily see it. 100% going to do a urinalysis on the 2nd with the same vet as well to see if we can find any further indications as to what’s going on.
$700 roughly spent on todays visit with treatments and testing. Anticipating another $500-1000 tomorrow atleast with more tests and possible IV and hospitalization if she doesn’t get a solid meal in here by the morning.
~~~~~~~~~UPDATE AUG 2~~~~~~~~~
————————————————
took her into the vet again today. Got a urinalysis done to see what we can find out further about her kidneys and hope to get further indications as to what’s going on.
blood sugar levels were highly elevated, fever still but .1 less then yesterday. Not as dehydrated as before but was still in need of more liquids.
we got another injection of liquids into her for hydration to hope it lasts the weekend since the vet closes for the long weekend. We also grabbed a few pills to help with Lumas appetite and hope that it encourages her to eat. I’m concerned about her food intake still.
this trip was just over $400
shes still weak, lethargic, and sleeping a lot.
she does seem a bit more alert then she has been.
if I’m not able to get a solid meal into her by the weekends end or possibly before, I’ll be taking her to hospital to get nutrition into her. I fear what she’s getting into her right now isn’t enough to sustain her body and will create further issues and affect her liver.

It’s difficult for me to ask for help, but I’m desperate to do everything I can to save Luma. She means the world to me, and losing her would be devastating.
Any amount you can contribute will go directly towards her medical care and help ensure she gets the treatment she needs to recover. Let’s get Luma back to her lovely self again.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can offer. Luma and I are deeply grateful for your kindness and generosity.
Warmest regards,
Justin (your friendly neighborhood cat lover)
