Help Save Lucky — Our Sweet Rucky is Fighting for His Life

Donation protected
In June of 2023, a small bunny was spotted living under an abandoned vehicle in a neglected yard. He was alone, frightened, and clearly out of place. A kind person posted in a local Facebook group asking if he might be a wild rabbit. When I saw the post, my heart sank. I knew immediately he wasn’t wild — and that he wouldn’t survive long out there.

Without hesitation, I offered to foster him. That very evening, I brought him home and began giving him the care, love, and safety he so desperately needed. We named him Lucky — and in time, his silly, sweet, and curious personality earned him the nickname “Rucky” (short for Lucky Rabbit). It didn’t take long for him to hop right into our hearts. He became part of our family.

But now, Rucky needs help. Urgently.

Just yesterday morning, Rucky didn’t come running for his favorite snacks — a moment he usually waits for all day. I immediately knew something was terribly wrong. I rushed him to a local vet, and an X-ray confirmed our worst fear: GI stasis — a deadly condition in rabbits where the digestive system completely shuts down. Rabbits cannot vomit, and any blockage or gas buildup can quickly become fatal.

The local vet suggested pineapple juice and to return in a few days. But I couldn’t wait. I knew Rucky deserved better. I drove him to our trusted exotic animal specialist in Philadelphia, where he was immediately admitted to the hospital.

Rucky is now fighting for his life.
His stomach has filled with gas. His food is fermenting inside of him. He’s in pain, scared, and being closely monitored while receiving IV fluids and critical medications to try to get his system moving again.

We’ve been told he will need to stay for a minimum of 3 days, with the estimated cost of care totaling $1,500. It’s a staggering number, but we are doing everything we can to give this precious little soul another chance.

Rucky is only 3 years old. He was abandoned once. Left alone. Forgotten.
We refuse to let that happen again.
Please, if you can spare any amount, it will go directly toward saving Rucky’s life. Every dollar, every share, and every kind thought means the world to us and to him.

Help us give Lucky — our sweet, brave Rucky — the fighting chance he deserves.
Let’s show him that love is stronger than neglect.
Let’s show him he truly is… lucky.
