Help Save Luca – Emergency Surgery Needed

Hi everyone,
I never thought I’d be writing something like this, but I’m reaching out for help as my baby Luca is currently in the emergency vet ICU and is fighting for his life.

Luca came into my life three years ago during intern year, when my best friend and roommate Liana and I adopted him and his brother Boo. We were brand-new doctors, just trying to survive residency and those two kittens quickly became our emotional support family. From day one, Luca has been more than a pet… he’s been my son, my comfort, and honestly, one of the most loyal little souls I’ve ever known.

Luca doesn’t just hang out at home. He walks beside me through Shelby Park. Cuddles up on the couch and sleeps right next to me and curls up after long shifts. He’s quirky and affectionate and full of life.

This week, that life changed. He suddenly became really sick…he stopped eating, was in visible pain, and had to be rushed to the ER. He’s now receiving 24/7 care, and the vet team has recommended a CT scan, X-rays, and potentially surgery to figure out what’s going on and how to treat it.

The current estimate is around $8,000.

I’m covering as much as I can, but I’m hoping to raise $5,000 to help make this possible. As a resident, I’m working full-time hours on a less-than-full-time salary, and while I hate asking for help, I know I can’t do this alone.
