Help Save Louie After a Devastating Escalator Accident
My beloved Pomeranian, Louie, suffered a terrible accident while we were visiting New York City. His paw became trapped in an escalator, causing devastating injuries. He lost a toenail, suffered deep lacerations, had exposed bone, and a dislocated toe. The emergency veterinary team initially tried to save his toe instead of amputating it because we were traveling. Unfortunately, despite multiple bandage changes and follow-up visits, his wound became infected, requiring additional treatment and eventually leading to the recommendation for toe amputation.
This heartbreaking accident has resulted in overwhelming expenses, including emergency veterinary care in New York, multiple follow-up visits and bandage changes, medications and laboratory testing, additional emergency treatment after returning to California, surgery and toe amputation, and unexpected hotel stays and travel changes while trying to care for Louie. The estimated cost of his surgery and continued treatment alone is over $3,500 , and the total expenses continue to grow.
Louie is more than just a pet—he is my family, my best friend, and my constant companion. Seeing him in pain has been one of the hardest experiences of my life. If you are able to help, any donation—no matter how small—will go directly toward Louie’s medical care, surgery, medications, and recovery. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this campaign would mean the world to us. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and for helping give Louie the chance to recover and live a happy, pain-free life.
With gratitude,
Alessandra & Louie
