Please help us give Loki a proper good bye

Nearly three years ago, my life was turned upside down. At 28, I overcame stage 4 cancer, but the victory came with a heartbreaking realization—I could never have children. As newlyweds, Adam and I had dreamed of building a family together, filled with love and laughter. Losing that dream devastated us both. While Adam, a dedicated sailor, had his career to focus on, I faced a long, lonely year of recovery from grueling chemotherapy. Thankfully, Rhonda, an incredible friend we’ll forever be grateful for, introduced us to a kitten foster program, and that’s where we found Bugz, who quickly became Loki—our unexpected blessing.

Initially, I wasn’t thrilled about getting a cat. I wasn’t “a cat person,” and Loki was far from my idea of a perfect first pet. But everything changed overnight. By morning, I woke up with Loki snuggled against me, tenderly grooming my bald head. In that moment, Loki ceased to be just “a pet.” He became family. Over the years, Loki transformed our lives. He gave me strength and companionship during long months of isolation, comforted me in ways I never thought possible, and brought joy back to Adam’s and my daily life. Loki wasn’t just a cat; he became our son, our confidant, and the light that illuminated the darkest corners of our existence.

Yesterday, our beloved Loki wasn’t himself. Gone were his morning meows, playful antics, and welcoming nudges. He didn’t eat or greet Luna, his Yorkie sister, or lie beside Adam in the kitchen. Something was wrong, and we knew it. A 40-minute drive to the nearest animal hospital led to six agonizing hours of waiting before hearing the diagnosis: Loki was severely anemic, with dangerously low red blood cells, and he needed an urgent transfusion. Tests were required to uncover the underlying cause, but there was no question in our minds—we’d do whatever it took to help him. As Loki was there for me during my darkest days, now it’s our turn to be there for him.

The cost of Loki’s care, including his transfusion and diagnostic tests, is overwhelming. However, his life is priceless to us, and we are committed to giving him the chance to continue sharing his love with us for many more years. We humbly ask for your support in raising funds to cover his medical expenses. Loki has been our source of strength, love, and hope. Now, we want to return that to him by ensuring he gets the care he needs to recover and thrive.

Thank you for your kindness in helping us save our sweet boy—we just want to bring him home to hear his joyful meows and feel his loving snuggles once again.
