Help save Lito

Hi, my name is Amber and this is my big guy, Lito!

On August 18th, our sweet boy turned 11 years old. He has been with us since the day he was born. I got him when I was 6 months pregnant and him barely able to even open his eyes. My son is 10 now and they are 2 peas in a pod. Lito has been there through it all—he was at home the day Nolan was born, and from that moment on, they’ve been inseparable. He truly is not just our dog, but family.

Last night, everything changed suddenly. I came home to find Lito trembling, his heart racing, with a high fever of 104.7, vomiting, diarrhea, and his back legs weak and limp. He could barely move. We rushed him to the animal hospital immediately.

The vets quickly started fluids and ran labs. They discovered that Lito has a serious prostate cyst. His white blood cell count is dangerously low, but thankfully his sugar levels are stable, which means he hasn’t gone into sepsis yet. His vitals were holding steady, and outside of this issue, his labs showed he’s otherwise very healthy.

The doctors told us that if he can undergo surgery—getting neutered and having the cyst drained and removed—his chance of survival is very high. Without it, however, we may lose him far too soon. I was unable to afford overnight hospitalization and sent home with antibiotics and fluids and a large bill. I am taking him to the regular vet now to hopefully save him.

Lito still has so much love and life left in him. He still acts like a big puppy. He is Nolan’s best friend, my baby, and the sweetest boy you could ever meet. This came out of nowhere and has placed a huge financial strain on us, one we weren’t prepared for.

I’m asking for help to cover the cost of Lito’s vet bills and surgery so that he can get the care he needs and come back home to the family who loves him so deeply.
