Hello, my partner has previously made a gofundme for linus for the beginning of his vet treatment about a month ago for the funds of his upcoming vet treatments after finding out he had a scratch to the cornea after getting into a fight with our other cat. These funds were used for paying for the medication he needed to get his eye treated the first few weeks and have been very helpful. In the last gofundme from my partner it was pointed out my partner is unfortunately unemployed and has been searching for a job for a long time and my income is the only thing helping with this and i work part time, we also were looking into pet insurance when all this happened so unfortunately linus has been uninsured during this process and its all have been out of pocket. Since then his eye has healed 95% but led to scar tissue forming which was highly to be expected. Last week at his appointment (February 3rd) we were informed that the antibiotics he was on mixed with the four other medications he was on had stopped working, and he needed stronger ones. Today (February 11th) we had his weekly check up and after so much positive news it looks like things have turned… his body had been working hard to fight the injury in his eye, the vet explained that his outer parts of his eye are sending blood vessels to the cornea where the damage is, which means its fighting harder then it should be and there is a possibility linus has contracted an autoimmune disease during this process which caused the antibiotics to stop last week but of course wasnt noticed until this week with his eye growing worse this week. He has unfortunately said we will have to take linus to an optometrist where he will have possibly two choices. The optometrist can see whats fully happening and get him on better meds and its not as bad as it possibly is. The second choice is its too damaged for the meds and he will need surgery where a piece of his eyelid tissue will be used to cover the damage in his eye which will help fully heal it but cant revert the surgery so his eye will be partially covered, but if there is truly an autoimmune disease which the optometrist will find he cant get the eye lid surgery, it will be too dangerous and we will possibly have to look into maybe a way to battle the auto immune disease or possibly linus loosing his eye… but this is all gonna be costly. The first check up for the optometrist could be between $500-$1000 and the surgery will be a few thousand if needed
This money could be used to save linus’s eye. Any leftover money could also be used to possibly revert scar tissue damage and make it so he will eventually get all or most vision to the left eye again. This is such a tragic situation from an accident, any help will be greatly appreciated thank you.
