Help Save Lily & Historic Home Connecticut Flood Disaster
My Mom died after a 6 year battle with terminal brain cancer, and was one of the longest surviving people with her illness, I still run our brain cancer support group, helping 25,000 members navigate this rare illness. My Dad and I are recovering and were hit with the catastophic flood in Connecticut in August 2024. Due to FEMA backlog, we've been waiting months for FEMA to approve all repairs for our flood damage, we have mold, asbestos, lead because our homeowner's insurance denied the claim because it was a flood, and we do not live in a flood zone. We have been sick since the flood from mold and our cat is also sick. We need help. She is now in kidney failure. We are trying to save her life, she's on Day 2 of three days of IVs to try to turn this around.
Our house was built when George Washington was President in 1790 and is a historic home that was a stop on the Underground Railroad for people to stay on their way to freedom.
On top of this catastrophic flood, we were already having extensive runoff from a development above us and increased rain events could destroy our home that has been standing for 235 Years.
It was my Mom's passion since 1974 to restore our home and turn it into a living history museum.
My Dad and I are devastated that our home has been damaged and that there has been no help after 50 years of paying homeowner's insurance at this address.
Please help us achieve my mom's dream to preserve and restore our historic home and to heal our cat from kidney failure and to rebuild our lives after dealing with brain cancer since 2016.
We've been sick from the aftermath of the flood and lack of help to recover and now our cat Lily is in kidney failure the vet thinks from being poisoned.
Please help us try to save her life and get our home repaired and recover from illnesses and the loss of my Mom.
