My name is Krystal and I’m raising money for our sweet girl Lilly who means the absolute world to us. She’s my best friend who has gone through so much with me, always supporting me through the best moments and the hardest (unofficial emotional support dog who has pulled me out of some of my darkest times, and also shared the best of times - a special, very emotionally in tune gal) - but this time, she needs the support, and I would go to the end of the universe to help her feel better.

Lilly hasn’t been feeling well on and off throughout the month of July. It’s been a rollarcoaster of emotions as we watched her go back and forth between being the happy, go lucky girl she is (who LOVES food), to not wanting to eat and dealing with gastrointestinal upset that has drained so much of her energy.

We have taken her to the vet four times between July 19 and August 5, with the third vet at urgent care recommending surgery after an ultrasound/high liver enzymes in blood work, and transferring her to the fourth vet last night at the Maritime Animal Hospital. Between all of these visits so far, we have spent $4,500 out of pocket - and we know that there is more to come, as she may need surgery today. The vet estimated surgery to be anywhere between $5,000 and $8,000, depending on whether what they find today on a new ultrasound indicates a blockage or a cancerous mass.

Lilly was kept overnight at the hospital to have her stomach emptied and receive supportive care through fluids and pain medicine. The first ultrasound showed an obstructive lesion in her digestive tract, but she had too much fluid and gas for the urgent care to be certain, and the vet at Martime wanted to help her poor body gain some strength/get a better look before surgery. Her next ultrasound will be sometime this morning, and this will determine the next course of action.

Any and all donations will make a big difference, no matter the amount, and will be directly used to cover Lilly’s vet bills and potential surgery. If surgery is too dangerous and would reduce her quality of life, or if a mass is found, we would use this for supportive care - so she can be comfortable, spend some time with us, go to her favourite places (the beach and home), see her favorite people, and cross the rainbow bridge in the comfort of her home where she feels safe, with her family and those that love her.

Please help me help the girl that has given her whole heart to helping me heal in ways I can never fully explain. My heart has been breaking with anticipatory grief, and I’m just not ready to lose my best friend yet, because I know she has so much life ahead of her.
