Hi,
My name is Victoria. A few days ago, my shar pei and baby girl, Lila, was diagnosed with Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. This is a deadly autoimmune disease that occurs quite commonly in dogs. Basically, her red blood cells are attacking each other for no known reason, causing her to be severely anemic which is causing her to lose weight fast, be too weak to walk or eat. Lila has already had to have a blood transfusion to buy us time to figure out how to get her red blood cells back up but the local vets are running out of options. At this point we have to get her into a specialist, and this is where it starts to cost a lot.
Our local vet has given us an estimate of $5000. But we could be looking at much more. I’ve spoken to people who have spent over $10000 to save their dogs from IMHA. To me, she’s worth it.
Our family has just gone through a cancer diagnosis, and my parents are looking at retirement. So we need help to get Lila through the next phase of her treatment.
If you can donate, it would mean the world to us. Lila is a rock in our family, she’s held us together for over a decade. We know she still has so much life left in her, and when she’s not being rocked by this horrible disease, we see glimmers of our Lila still in there… so we can’t give up yet.
