Help Save Lemmy: Urgent Vet Surgery Needed
Donation protected
No visit to our home can happen without the inclusion of our big handsome Prince, Lemmy. Whether he's begging for attention, giving you kisses, making you biscuits or helping himself to your lap, he always inserts himself into any social gathering. Well, when we came home from work Monday night Lemmy didn't greet us at the door or even show up for dinner. If you've ever met Lem, you would know he would never miss a meal. We found him struggling to stand/walk laying on his side alone. When I picked him up to bring him to Kyle, he yowled and vomited in pain. It was too late- in our area even emergency vets are only open during the day. We had to wait 14 hours before anyone would open and then another 3 before we could get in. I didnt think he'd make the night. By morning he struggled to lift his head or stand at all with shakey legs. His bladder was the size of a grapefruit from not being able to pass anything and he could no longer lay comfortably enough to sleep. His body was heaving, and we both thought they would only offer euthanasia. Thankfully when we got him to Waterville vet they jumped to action; confirming our suspicions that he had been suffering of a blocked Urethra and needed immediately surgery or he would shortly die. We had about 2 minutes to make the tough decision to consent to the most expensive vet bill either of us has ever had (And thas saying something!) When they said they could save him and he could live a healthy life we did not hesitate. We signed the papers. Now the race is on to raise the money in just a few short days. We spent the day applying to credit options, researching pet insurance coverage options, and reaching out to friends and family. We do not like asking for money, but we had not anticipated this. Being caught completely off guard we spent everything we had on a down payment by maxing out our credit cards so they could move forward and save his life. At this point we know Lemmy has survived surgery. He was finally able to rest most of the day, but he will be hospitalized for several days and then will have a long recovery, followed possibly by lifelong prescription diet. Anything helps and It's a moment I definitely need to let go of my pride and do what's best for my pet. You can help me save my baby.
Funds will be used to cover his surgery, medication, and prescription diet. Total estimated at $2,017.
