Help Save Kuzya: A Survivor’s Fight for Recovery
Hello, my name is Katherine, and I’m reaching out for help to save my beloved cat, Kuzya. On February 19th, he was brutally attacked by a dog, leaving him with severe injuries. I rushed him to the vet hospital, where I was given heartbreaking odds—only a 35% chance of survival. The doctors presented me with two options: attempt to save him with no guarantees, or put him down to avoid overwhelming medical bills. For me, there was only one choice—I had to fight for Kuzya.
He was admitted to the ICU with multiple life-threatening injuries:
• Broken ribs
• Severely damaged organs
• Internal bleeding
• Head trauma
• Deep wounds on his left side
The first 24 hours were critical. The vet told me that if he survived the night, his chances would rise to 50/50. Kuzya fought through, giving me hope. But the next day, he worsened—lethargic, unresponsive, and showing no signs of improvement. The doctors and I agreed to give him one more day, and if he still wasn’t improving, I would have to make the hardest decision of my life.
Then, the miracle happened. The next morning, the vet called with a glimmer of hope—Kuzya was showing tiny signs of improvement. We decided to place a feeding tube since he couldn’t eat on his own. Slowly but surely, he began his fight back to life. On February 26th, after a week in the hospital, he was finally well enough to come home.
But the fight isn’t over. His medical bills have already exceeded $10,000, and his recovery will take months, with ongoing treatments, medications, and follow-ups. I don’t know how much more it will cost, but I know I can’t do this alone.
I understand that not everyone would make the same choice, and some might think it’s unreasonable to spend so much on “just a cat.” But to me, Kuzya is family. I couldn’t let him go without giving him a chance.
I’m asking for your help—any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward Kuzya’s treatment and recovery. If you’re unable to donate, please share this fundraiser to help spread the word. Every bit of support means the world to us.
I will be uploading all medical bills by next Tuesday, with new ones added as they come in. Any excess funds will be donated to SPCA or a similar animal welfare organization.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any help you can give—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing Kuzya’s story.
With gratitude,
Katherine & Kuzya
