Our beloved dog Kong is fighting to keep his sight after a freak accident left him with a severally ruptured Corneal Ulcer.

Kong is a spirited, 11-year-old purebred Shih Tzu who has been part of this loving family since 2017. He was lovingly given by an aunt who wanted him to have a better home; and ever since then, he's brought joy, love, and laughter into everyone he goes around. He's been the protector, comfort, and happiness, especially to his caregiver - a single mother raising her 8-month-old daughter and this four-legged family member.

Despite his age, Kong is known for one thing about all, his incredible speed! Even now, he still tries to sprint through the house, full of life! But after a tragic incident that injured his right eye, everything changed.

While someone was mowing their lawn, a small object - likely hidden in the grass - was run over and launched at high speed toward Kong. In a heartbreaking instant, it struck him directly in the right eye, leaving him in pain, disoriented, and weeping for hours. His loving caregiver rushed him to the veterinarian, where they found that his corneal ulcer had been completely ruptured.

Kong is now under the care of a veterinary eye specialist who believes there's still hope to save his eye and his vision - but only through emergency surgery. Without it, Kong may lose his right eye completely.

Even while injured, Kong remains his sweet, protective self; but we've seen the toll this incident has taken on him. With only partial vision, Kong now bumps into walls, stumbles over objects, and moves much more carefully - a sharp contrast to the fearless little speedster we know and love.

We've watched his caregiver cry quietly when she thinks no one notices. She's doing everything she can - mentally, emotionally, and financially; but as a single mother of an infant, she's carrying more than anyone should have to. That's why this GoFundMe exists for them; to give Kong a real chance at healing and help his caregiver shoulder this impossible burden.
