Who Are We?

Ko Lipe Animal Rescues is a volunteer-driven, non-governmental organisation dedicated to rescuing and caring for over 400+ stray dogs and cats on Ko Lipe, a small island in southern Thailand. While Ko Lipe is a tropical paradise visited by thousands of tourists each month, the island has a large population of homeless animals that suffer from starvation, disease, untreated injuries and overpopulation.

With no veterinary clinic on the island, these animals depend entirely on our small but hardworking team of staff and volunteers—who work tirelessly, 24 hours per day—to provide them with food, shelter and medical care.

But we can't do it alone.

Why We Need Your Help

Ko Lipe’s animals are in crisis. After losing our main shelter in August 2023 due to land being taken over by a neighboring hotel whilst also struggling with financial setbacks caused by COVID-19. We are fighting to keep nearly 400 animals alive and healthy on the island.

Many of Ko Lipe’s dogs are also suffering the long-term effects of a canine distemper outbreak, making medical care more crucial than ever.

About Me (Ameera Kaiyum Fundraiser Organiser)

I’m 19 years old and have spent the last three years helping run my family’s large dog boarding kennels and cattery. This has given me a deep understanding of the costs and challenges of running an animal care facility—especially in a place like Ko Lipe, where resources are limited. Even just being at the rescue centre for a few days has shown me how many animals rely on Koh lipe animal rescue. I am committed to supporting Nittaya and her team in their mission to give these animals a chance at a better life.

Ko lipe rescue’s Story

Founded 8 years ago by Swiss animal lovers Desiree and Phil, the rescue started as Halfway House 4 Paws, offering feeding programs, medical care, sterilization clinics, and adoption services.

In 2019, they built a shelter that became a safe haven for countless animals. Despite keeping it running during COVID, the founders were forced to step away due to serious health issues, and in August 2023, the land the shelter was built on was lost.

However the volunteers refused to give up.

Nittaya, a dedicated volunteer from Bangkok, stepped up to care for over 400 animals across the island. On the 1st of March 2024, her team opened the Sunflower Guesthouse, a small shelter and guesthouse that provides a stable base for the rescue while generating some funding. But with no steady financial support, they still struggle to keep up with the growing demand for food, medical care, and sterilization programs.

What does Ko Lipe Animal rescue do

Rescue & Rehabilitation – Saving injured, abandoned, and abused animals Medical Treatment – Vaccinations, parasite treatments, emergency care Spay & Neuter Programs – Controlling the population and preventing suffering Feeding Programs – Providing food for over 170 dogs and 250 cats Adoption & Rehoming – Finding loving homes locally and internationally Community Education – Promoting responsible pet ownership

How Your Donation Helps

1️⃣ Urgent: Food & Medicine

* Monthly Food Costs: 40,000 – 45,000 THB/ £1000

* Monthly Medicine Costs: 35,000 – 45,000 THB £800 - £1000

* Treatments include:
✅ Vaccinations (rabies, distemper, parvo)
✅ Wound care, deworming, parasite prevention (Bravecto, tick treatments)
✅ Medications for blood parasites, heartworm, cancer, and poisoning cases

2️⃣ Sterilisation Clinics

Spay/neuter programs are critical for controlling the stray population. Each clinic costs:

* Up to 70 animals: 160,000 THB/ £3700

* 80+ animals: 200,000 THB/ £4500

* Each clinic runs for 2-3 days, with a vet team sterilizing as many animals as possible.

Ways you can help
