Kobe is my three-year-old pitbull-mastiff-boxer mix, and he means the world to our family. He’s always been a gentle protector for my kids, watching over them with so much love. Recently, our lives changed in an instant when a drunk driver hit Kobe and dragged him under her car for 50 feet. My children witnessed the entire ordeal, and we had to chase the car down to get her to stop. Kobe wasn’t even in the road—he was right next to our car, just being his loyal self.

The accident left Kobe with devastating injuries. He lost one of his legs and now needs urgent surgery on the other side to have a chance at survival. The cost of his surgery and care is more than I can manage alone, but Kobe is family, and I can’t imagine our lives without him. As a single mom, I’m reaching out for help because I want to give Kobe the best chance to come home and continue being the loving, protective companion my kids and I cherish so much.
