Hi, my name is Talena and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and so much fear for my best friend—my dog, Kilo.

Kilo recently underwent emergency surgery after swallowing fabric that caused a dangerous blockage in his small intestines. What should have been a single operation turned into a nightmare. After the initial procedure, his intestines began turning purple and bruised—signs that they were no longer healthy or viable. The surgeons believe he may have thrown a clot, causing sudden and severe intestinal damage. They had no choice but to remove a large portion of his intestines.

Now he’s at risk for short bowel syndrome, which means his body may struggle to absorb nutrients for the rest of his life. Even worse, his medical team fears he may be developing DIC (Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation), a rare and potentially fatal blood clotting disorder. He’s receiving a plasma transfusion and intensive care, but his condition is still uncertain.

No matter what happens, I’m already facing over $8,000 in medical debt—and that number could grow. I honestly don’t know how I’ll manage it on my own. I’m completely overwhelmed—emotionally, financially, and mentally. I never thought I’d be in a position where I’d have to ask strangers for help, but I’m desperate. Kilo is everything to me. He’s my heart, my shadow, my comfort through life’s hardest moments.
