Help Save Kemigisha

I am a Los Angeles veterinarian who specializes in birds and exotic animals.  This past November, I flew to Uganda to visit that country's magnificent Mountain Gorillas.  As I got to know my driver, Isaac Anyijukire, he revealed to me that his true passion was the orphanage, The Twinomujuni Children's Home in Kabale, Uganda, he had started 11 years earlier for kids whose parents have died from AIDS. Of course, I wanted to visit it.

While I was at the Children's Home, I met a thirteen-year-old girl who broke my heart. As the other children ran out to greet me, this one girl straggled behind, being helped to walk by two of her friends. This teenager, Kemigisha Prossy, collapsed as she tried to walk towards me, and had to be helped to a nearby bench.  Kemigisha then sat there, rocking back and forth, in obvious pain.  When I asked what was going on, Isaac told me that Kemigisha has a brain tumor. He said that a CT Scan done in neighboring Kenya had revealed a Meningioma of the right cerebello-pontine angle.  This benign tumor, located between Kemigisha's skull and her brain, is pushing on her brain, causing her constant, horrific headaches.   

Isaac gives her medication to help with this pain, but it seems the only real solution is surgery for removal of the tumor. This surgery could be done in Kenya (Uganda has no neurosurgeons) for $13,000 and would provide a total cure for this beautiful child.  Isaac doesn't have the money to pay for her surgery himself.  

Meeting Kemigisha and seeing her suffering broke my heart.  I knew I was her only hope and vowed to do what I could to try to make this surgery happen for her.  Please help me to raise the money for her surgery.  I am willing to fly the money to Uganda myself to deliver the funds to Isaac.
