Our Cousins, Kaleem, Faheem, Sanwal and Saud were in an accident in 2015. The car was hit by a flatbed truck that crushed our cousins’ car which led to three of them dying at the scene, one which included Kaleem’s younger brother and 2 of his close cousins. Kaleem was taken to the hospital with severe life-threatening injuries which included spinal cord fractures leaving him to be paraplegic (paralyzed from the waist down), glass in his stomach and broken hip.
We were unaware of the severity of his condition till we have recently seen some disturbing pictures of his bedsores and legs and since then his situation has gotten so much worse that we are turning to a bigger platform to be able to help him more since his health is deteriorating day by day. It has been three years since the accident and Kaleem's situation has only gotten worse. He has lost tremendous amount of weight, unable to eat, lack of blood (leading to many blood transfusions) and now loosing his hip because of severe bed sore that is getting worse day by day. If left untreated, it could cause infections and even possible death.
This is just one of the issues that he is going through currently. The recommended treatment from Kaleem’s doctors have been to change his dressing for his sores every day, provide him with air conditioning and a physiotherapist which will help him do exercises and eventually a surgery when his body is able to be strong enough to survive a surgery.
The collection of the money will be going towards his medical care which will cover his medical expenses, his therapy equipment and appointments.
He needs financial care ASAP because of the extremely rough condition he is currently in which is causing his body to deteriorate. The funds will first focus on providing Kaleem with the essentials that are needed to heal his bed sore, which are unbearably life threatening at this time. Specifically, the money will be used to buy him an air conditioner to reduce the further deterioration of his body in the hot temperature of 50 degree Celsius, UPS or a generator since the electricity is not always available in that area of Pakistan. The money promises to meet his other basic needs such as custom mattress, diapers, healthy diet, ointments to fasten up his wound.
Once his bed sore has been treated and healed he will need long-term physiotherapy to avoid future sores and to help him gain strength in his upper body. So, the remaining funds will be allocated to his treatment and supporting equipment such as a wheelchair, supportive bed and personal support worker to relieve his caregiver at times.
