Hi friends, family, and kind strangers—
I never imagined I would be writing something like this, but I am reaching out because my dog, Josh, needs urgent, life saving surgery and I cannot do it alone.
Josh has cancer. He has sarcoma. The tumor on his leg is growing fast and has spread deep into the muscle and tissue. It has reached a point where it is outgrowing what his skin can handle, and it is becoming more painful and dangerous as time passes. After meeting with the vet and reviewing the options, we were told the hardest truth. The only way to save his life is to amputate the entire leg.
This is truly life or death. If we cannot do the amputation, the only other humane option will be to let him go to prevent suffering, and I am not ready to give up on him when there is still a chance to save him.
The cost for the surgery and the care that comes with it is $10,000. That total includes the procedure itself, pre op testing, medications, and post op recovery and follow ups. I am doing everything I can, but I simply do not have the funds to cover this in time.
What makes this even harder is that Josh is still himself. He is still loving, still trying to be brave, still showing up with the same loyalty and warmth he always has. He has been my constant through so much.
Now he needs me to fight for him.
I am asking for help so we can schedule this surgery as soon as possible and give him the best chance at a full, happy life. Dogs adapt incredibly well to life on three legs, and with proper care and recovery, Josh can still run, play, and enjoy the life he deserves for years and years.
If you are able to donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser means just as much. It helps us reach people who might be able to help.
I will post updates along the way so you can follow Josh’s journey and recovery. Thank you for taking the time to read this, for caring about my best friend, and for helping us give him a chance.
With love and gratitude,
Cayla Ho
