Sometimes, the people who leave the biggest mark on our hearts are the ones we meet thousands of miles from home.

While visiting the Philippines, I had the privilege of meeting Joel and Reichie Talingting and their family. In the short time I knew them, they welcomed me with warmth, kindness, and generosity that I will never forget. Their home was filled with laughter, love, and an unwavering devotion to one another. They are the kind of family who would give their last meal to help someone else.

Today, they need our help.

Their beloved son, Jorchie Talingting, was critically injured in a motorcycle accident and suffered a serious head injury. He is now in the hospital, needing surgery and fighting to recover.

Jorchie is a devoted husband to his wife, Mae, and a loving father to their beautiful new baby. He is hardworking, intelligent, compassionate, and known for always putting his family first. He loves basketball, dreams of providing the best life possible for his family, and has so much life still ahead of him.

No parent is ever prepared for the phone call that changes everything. Joel and Reichie have been by their son’s side, praying for his recovery while facing overwhelming medical expenses. The burden has become so great that they are preparing to sell their family home to help pay for his care. At the same time, they are trying to care for their other children and support Mae and their new grandchild through this unimaginable time.

As someone who knows this family personally, I can tell you that they would never ask for help unless they truly needed it. Their strength, faith, and love for one another are inspiring, but no family should have to face a crisis like this alone.
