Help Save Joey: Our Beloved King Charles Cavalier Spaniel

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Kayla, and I am reaching out on behalf of my parents to ask for your help during this incredibly difficult time.

Joey, our 6-month-old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, experienced a life-threatening allergic reaction this morning (July 18, 2024) around 9:30 am. My mother noticed he was acting strangely and immediately took him to the vet. Upon arrival, Joey's condition rapidly deteriorated. We were informed that he had an allergic reaction to something he ingested, causing his throat to close up and his eyelids to swell. From now on, my parents will need to carry an EpiPen for Joey.

The vet had to insert a catheter and IV, and Joey stayed under their care for nearly six hours. They performed x-rays and other tests. We were told a $5,000 deposit was required to have an ambulance transport Joey to the hospital just 7 minutes away. Instead, the vet drove Joey to the hospital themselves.

Since arriving at the hospital, Joey has undergone additional tests, revealing an unidentified object in his stomach. Though he eventually began breathing on his own, he immediately had a seizure. The doctors warned that Joey might not be the same even if he recovers. They suggested euthanasia due to his declining condition, but I convinced my parents to give him 24 more hours to see if he improves. However, each moment of care comes with a hefty price.

So far, my parents are facing a $7,500 bill, and it has only been about 12 hours of care. The oxygen treatment alone has been the most expensive part. Now, Joey is spending the night at the hospital, and the costs continue to rise.

I am humbly asking for any help you can provide during this tragic and difficult time. Your generosity would mean the world to us and give Joey a fighting chance. We would be forever grateful for your support.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
